TOW (Terrified of Water) is a small-group class designed specifically for adults who are terrified of the water. You'll learn in a supportive, judgment-free environment at a pace that feels comfortable - surrounded by others who understand exactly how you feel.

Absolutely not. Adults of all ages can learn to swim and become more comfortable in the water. Our instructors understand that adults learn differently than children and focus on building confidence first, then swimming skills.

No. No previous swimming experience is required. This class is designed for complete beginners and adults who are uncomfortable in the water.

Never. Our instructors work at your pace. You'll never be pressured, rushed, or asked to do something that makes you uncomfortable. Building trust and confidence is our first priority.

You'll gradually learn how to become comfortable in the water, control your breathing, float with confidence, move safely through the water, swim short distances, and develop practical water safety skills that can last a lifetime.

Classes are held at the Gordon Jewish Community Center (GJCC) in Nashville, Tennessee. Our central location makes it convenient for adults throughout Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Spring Hill, Murfreesboro, and Middle Tennessee.

Please bring a comfortable swimsuit, towel, sandals, and a positive attitude. If you have goggles and would like to use them, feel free to bring them, but they are not required.

Many adults join TOW after a frightening experience or years of avoiding the water. Our instructors understand that overcoming fear is an emotional journey as much as a physical one. You'll be supported every step of the way.

Many participants leave the program feeling comfortable in the water for the first time in years. If you'd like to continue improving your swimming skills, we also offer private adult swim lessons to help you build on your progress.
